Lake Placid New Years 90 Meter Ski Jump
Postponed from December 29 to December 30, 2009

The NYSEF New Years Ski Jumping competition kicked off a huge week of jumping and Nordic Combined competition in Lake Placid.
The schedule for the week included four ski jumping competitions and two Nordic Combined events, all tryouts for the U.S. Team headed to the World Junior Nordic Ski Championships in Hinterzarten, Germany.
The New Years jumping was scheduled for Tuesday morning on the 1980 Olympic K-90 meter hill, with a Nordic Combined Cross Country race to follow in the afternoon at Mt. Van Hoevenberg, but the day dawned windy and bitterly cold, so officials prudently postponed the jumping to Wednesday afternoon with the cross country to follow on Thursday morning.

Nordic Combined Competition

Fourteen athletes came to the start line at 9:30 on Thursday morning for the cross country portion of the NYSEF New Years competition. The 12 young men raced four 2.5 km laps at the van Hoevenberg biathlon complex, while the two young ladies raced two laps. Jumping points were taken on the first round of the Wednesday afternoon K-90 competition (the daylight jumping above).
