The day before the competition was one of the warmest of the winter with temperatures in the lower 50s. Things got even worse as Friday evening brought rain. Jon "Cannonball" Farnham, who has been heading up both the Lebanon Outing Club and Vermont Academy ski jumping programs this year, spent most of Friday afternoon & evening trying to keep the VA jumps ready for a jumping meet on Saturday. Jon repaired each inrun three times before overnight weather turned cold enough to freeze things up. The inruns were pretty much ice-hard and held up beautifully during the competition. The landing hills started out the morning hard but turned soft throughout the late morning into the early afternoon by the time the competition started. There was plenty of sunshine and the temperature was hovering right around the freezing point. A spirited field of jumpers showed up to take on the K20 and K35 jumps, and then the 2k and 3k at Vermont Academy cross country loop.
