Lack of snow upset the 2006 Empire State Games. Cross country races were moved from Mt. Van Hoevenberg to the jumping complex where the small XC course crosses the outruns of all three jumps so jumping was shut down during the races. Jumping competitions were compressed into a new schedule shown at the right. Then the weather, which had withheld snow for weeks, turned around with heavy snow and north-east winds on tournament day. The 48 meter competition was a success, as was the Nordic Combined cross country, but after a few test jumps, officials postponed the 90 meter jumping until Sunday. Cross country racing started at nine am so the big hill jump was scheduled for eight in the morning!

All jump results were taken from Saturday's 48 meter competition. The cross country course at the jump complex was a 1.5 km loop climbing for the first half, then descending back to the stadium. Scholastic and open men ran three laps, women ran two laps, juniors and masters ran one lap.
