Sig
Sixth Annual
Sig Evensen Memorial Ski Jumps

Intervale Jumping Complex, Lake Placid, NY
Organized by NYSEF volunteers
Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005

With the best Eastern 90 meter jumpers chasing SuperTour points in Eau Claire WI, organizers decided to drop the K-90 competition from this year's Sig Evensen Memorial program. Competition was held in the morning on the K-18 and on the K-48 just after noon. Cross-country races for Nordic Combined competition followed the awards for special jumping.

Scoring was modified when one of the three judges cancelled at the last minute. Because three judges scores were needed to balance the scores, a third "phantom judge" was used. On the K-18, the phantom judge always agreed with judge B, while in the 48 meter competition, the phantom agreed with judge A in the first round and with judge B in the second.

On the K-18, the simplified scoring system was used, adding the distance in meters to the scores of the three judges. On the 48, the traditional system was used with 3.2 points per meter.

               (Junior Olympic Qualifier)

In Junior-2 class, a "wave start" was used, sending the final three competitors off at 2:57. For this reason, we include two extra columns in the J-2 results table. The actual finish times are corrected to reflect when the wave skiers would have finished if they had left at the prescribed Gundersen start time.
