From the 1949 American Ski Annual, we bring you the report describing
the very first Fourth-of-July ski jumping competition in Lake Placid.

The author, Ron McKenzie was a great supporter of ski jumping in Lake Placid. He died at the ski jumps climbing the stairs to watch Joe Lamb take the very first jump on the new P-70 meter Olympic ski jump in the winter of 1978-79.
