Here is a little
Ski Jumping History Quiz
from the 2000 World Masters in
Rognan NOR.

In honor of the 2000 Masters World Championships (IMC) the Norlandia Hotel in Rognan, Norway made a special munu, honoring great ski jumpers of the past and present. Menu items included "Soup Bokløv", "Catfish Weissflog", "Salmon Napalkov"... you get the idea.

My immediate reaction was, "That would made a great quiz." Who can give the first names of all the jumpers honored on this menu, the years of their glory, and their accomplishments? The names are listed below, some were misspelled in the menu.

For each jumper below, give:
  • the jumper's first name
  • the jumper's nation
  • the jumper's best years
  • the jumper's accomplishments
  1. Bokløv
  2. Nykänen
  3. Wirkola
  4. Raska
  5. Ganzer [sic] (Ganster)
  6. Weissflog
  7. Napalkov
  8. Rechnagel [sic] (Recknagel)
  9. Kasaya

You may submit your answers by automatic e-mail...good luck!

As of late September, 2000, this quiz has been posted for about six months.
Corky Colby (Lake Placid NY) submitted a good set of answers but the very best came from Willy Graves (Putney VT) whose mom wishes that he would work as diligently on his schoolwork as he did on this project. Congratulations Willy!

p.s. Yes, the same Willy Graves whose picture graces the Eastern Ski Jumping home page.
