Meeting with the organizers of the
2010 World Winter Masters Games
to be held in Bled, Slovenia
[ See the Official WWMG Web Page ]
Bellevue Hotel in Kranj,Slovenia, Oct 30, 2008 17:00 hrs
Minutes for: IMC meeting with SI Sport Re: WWMG in Bled 2010
Present at the meeting where the following persons:
- Torbjorn Haugen: IMC Vice president /treasurer
- Anton Zapf: IMC Media and culture
- James Lambert: IMC Ski Jumping Director
- Tim Farcnik: SI Sport ( promoters of World Winter Masters games for Bled 2010 )
- Kristof Gaspirc IMC representative for Slovenia
The meeting was an introduction between IMC Board representatives with SI Sport who are the official promoters for the upcoming World Winter Masters Games in Bled Slovenia 2010.
Tim Farcnik (SI-Sport) would like to promote and incorporate IMC ski jumping Nordic Events for the Winter World Masters Games in Bled 2010 and suggests SI-Sports and IMC work together to promote each other.
Tim Farcnik (SI-sport ) explained that the WWMG for 2010 is already fully supported and endorsed by FIS. He also reassures that FIS is to be involved for promotional reasons and not to take over the responsibility or rules in any way from IMC. In addition, SI-Sport happily suggests that the IMC govern its own rules and regulations for their respective events.
FIS Representatives for WWMG 2010 will be: Harald Herbert, Walter Hofer (race director FIS) and Gian Franco Kasper(who is FIS president, Olympic Committee member and member of the International Masters Games Board).
As there was no communication between FIS and IMC until now, Anton Zapf requests a meeting be held with IMC representatives and FIS officials Walter Hofer and Harald Hecnik. This meeting is to be organized by Tim Farcnik of SI Sport
Other points in the meeting:
IMC Torbjorn Haugen requested: 90m 70m 45m hills be made available for the Games. Anton thinks the 105m hill (Kranj) should be in the program in any case, but may be additional to a 90m hill.
IMC Torbjorn and Anton: mentioned that the decision on whether the IMC has their own WC in 2010 or joins the WWMG for 2010 has to be made by means of voting at the next IMC meeting in Ruhpolding Feb 2009. We agree that we do either-or, not considering to do both.
SI-Sports Tim Farcnik: Participation for WWMG 2010 will be 120 Euro's no matter how many disciplines.
IMC Torbjorn: requests possible solution for poor countries/participants to pay less fee. Tim Farcniks agrees, to work on solutions about that.
SI-Sports Tim Farcnik: mentioned during the meeting that the President of Slovenia Mr. Danilo Turk is strongly supporting the event.
Agreements: SI-Sports Tim Farcnik will arrange the following:
1) A meeting between IMC representatives and FIS officials Walter höfer and Harald Hecnik
2) SI-Sports Tim Farcnik will also present the IMC board with confirmation that World Winter Games for ski jumping and Nordic Combined will follow IMC rules completely.
We at the IMC look forward to another pleasant and professional meeting with SI-sport and FIS.

2008 Summer Grand Prix, GER

Surgery for Klaus and for Erkki
Klaus wrote (September 30)
"I wasn´t in Einsiedeln because I had a jumping accident on the plastic hill where I live, four days before I wanted to go to Einsiedeln. The jump was okay but at the end of the plastic was a very hard obstacle and that smashed my hip. The operation was three hours and very complicated. I have to stay now in the hospital for eight weeks!"
Erkki wrote (October 4) "I didn´t get my operation yesterday, they have some epidemia in that part of hospital and they can´t do any operations. The new date for me is October 10. I don´t have to stay in a hospital, I can go home on the same day if everything goes okay."
