Elite Ski Jumpers
Young
Bill Demong
(b. March 29, 1980)of Saranac Lake NY skied his way onto the
U.S Team for the Nagano Olympics where he made some waves with his long jumps.
In 1999, he committed himself to top level skiing by moving to Steamboat
Springs, CO,
the unofficial home of the U.S. Ski Team Nordic Combined program.
Now, in the 2000 season, he has joined Steamboat Springs native Todd Lodwick
on the World Cup tour where Bill has been regularly placing in the top twenty.
Three time Olympian
Tim Tetreault
(b. March 14, 1970) grew
up in Norwich VT and learned to ski in the junior jumping
program of the Ford Sayre Ski Club across the Connecticut River in Hanover NH.
Tim was National Nordic Combined champion in 1997.
At the end of the 1999 ski season, Tim retired from international competition.

Casey Colby
(b. Nov. 3, 1974) of Lake Placid NY was 1997 U.S. National ski jumping champion
and went on to Nagano, Japan for the 1998 Olympic Games.
At the end of the 1999 season, Casey retired from international competition and
will
continue his college education.

Young
Taylor Hoffman
(b. Nov. 17, 1979) of Lake Placid was a
member of the
U.S. Ski Team
for several years. He is re-energized for the 2000 season, and everyone in the
skiing community hopes that
this very talented athlete will soon rediscover the magic.

World Junior Gold Medalists!

In 1999, Olympian Bill Demong teamed up with
Jed Hinkley
(b. June 5, 1981) of Andover NH, Johnny Spillane
(Steamboat Springs CO) and supercharged
Carl VanLoan
(August 20, 1980) of
Webster NH to bring home the
gold medal
from the 1999 World Junior Nordic Skiing
Championships. These four are now training together in Steamboat Springs, where
the U.S. Nordic Combined Ski Team makes its home.

Some high flying ladies, the
Mountain Muffins
Liz Szotyori
of Saugerties NY has been jumping for only four years.
She lives and trains in Lake Placid, as does
Marie-Pierre Morin
of Rockland, Ontario, CAN.
Molly Stone
of Wilmington NY began her jumping as a small girl in
Lake Placid.
Lindsey Van
was a child prodigy as a tiny girl in Park City, UT.
With the Park City jumps out of commission in preparation for the 2002 Olympics,
Lindsey, now 14, is spending the year in Lake Placid.

Karla Keck

Veronica Myhra
represented the U.S. in the 1999 World
Championships. Marie-Pierre accompanied them as sole Canadian jumper and on a
soggy night in Austria,
Karla took home the gold.
The
Mountain Muffin
jumping program, under the guidence of
Larry Stone
, is pushing U.S. girls and ladies ski jumping
to new heights.

Laura McLane
got
a late start in jumping
as a student at Kennett High School in
New Hampshire. Now a student at St. Michaels College in Burlington, VT, Laura
continues to improve both her
jumping and her cross-country.
