The 2006 Junior Olympic ski jumping will take place at Storrs Hill in Lebanon (see map, lower right), cross country races for Nordic Combined will be at Oak Hill north of Hanover (top of map), and all teams will be housed at the Fireside Inn in West Lebanon (bottom left on map). Getting from the motel to the jumps is easy, but the best way from the motel to the cross country is not obvious. The "natural" route, up 12A and 4 and 10 is narrow, congested and slow. A Delorme mapping program sends me across the Connecticut River into Vermont, up I-91, back across a small bridge to Hanover and up to Oak Hill. However, Chairman Tom Dodds, a life-long resident of the area and smart guy says "Keep it simple". He suggests going south (east) on I-89 to exit 18, then north on Route 120 up through Hanover and on to Oak Hill. One advantage of this choice is that you need learn only one route to and from Oak Hill, whether the other end of your trip is the motel or the Storrs Hill jumps.
